Earron S. Payton is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of The ESP Cancer Outreach and was inspired by his personal journey to provide opportunities for dialogue to raise awareness about prostate cancer and the importance of early detection and screening among minority communities. Mr. Payton is committed to ensuring we make meaningful improvements in how we live, and have a place with mutual vulnerability, transformative education, and empathy, so a higher quality of life is achieved for all.
December 9th, 2009 was the day that changed my life forever. I was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer at the age of 43. In February of 2010, I had my first surgery, I was very optimistic regarding the treatment plan the doctors had for me in hopes of being cancer-free. As a result of a strict diet, proper rest, and physical activities, I remained cancer-free for 5 years. Inadvertently, in late 2015, I started feeling pretty bad. I began coughing a lot, my chest felt tight; I was exhausted daily and my knees began swelling with fluid, to the point where I had to get them drained.
With a scheduled appointment, I received a PET Scan where the doctors discovered the cancer had metastasized into my lungs and my diagnosis was advanced to stage 4. Since that day, I’ve become a passionate advocate for prostate health and have dedicated my life to raising awareness about prostate cancer. I’m committed to fostering understanding and promoting early detection through informative content and community engagement. I am currently a 3-time Stage 4 cancer survivor still fighting the good fight.
After navigating my journey and recognizing missed opportunities for engagement with African American males and historically underserved communities, ESP Cancer Outreach was launched to fill the void for those impacted by prostate cancer, potentially at risk, and increase knowledge surrounding factors that can increase your risk.
Please join me in the journey towards a world where prostate cancer is better understood and effectively managed. "Because your fight is our fight"!
Be well!
Sincerely,
Earron S. Payton
